Harley Benton MV-4JB Plus BassTheWorld: Now in Shell Pink with Tesla Pickups!

After the release of the premium signature bass MV-4JB Plus, Harley Benton is introducing a slightly reduced version of BassTheWorld’s signature model, the MV-4JB.

Harley Benton MV-4JB BassTheWorld Shell Pink

If the Plus version (see below) was a bit too expensive or too specialized for you, HB is now showing the MV-4JB BassTheWorld Shell Pink model. It comes in Shell Pink and has been slightly scaled back in some areas.

To start with, this bass features two Tesla VR-1B Alnico 5 single coils instead of the Kloppmann pickups. This model also comes with laurel instead of rosewood for the fretboard, a Sung Il WB401CR bridge with brass saddles (instead of the Gotoh model), and JB-350 DieCast tuners with a 22:1 gear ratio instead of the Gotoh GB11W-4 tuners with a 20:1 gear ratio.

The M4-JB is available at Thomann*.

[April 16, 2026] BassTheWorld is one of the largest and most influential YouTube channels for anyone interested in bass gear and learning to play bass. What could be more fitting than to give creator Gregor Fris and his team a signature bass? With the Harley Benton MV-4JB Plus BassTheWorld, the manufacturer is showcasing one of its most sophisticated and high-quality bass releases to date.craftsmanship.

What is BassTheWorld Known for?

Before we get to the MV-4JB Plus, let’s take a quick look at the YouTube channel. Gregor Fris and his team have been active since 2012 and have since amassed over 400,000 subscribers on the channel. That may seem small compared to giants like Davie504 or Scott’s Bass Lessons, but it still makes the channel the largest English-speaking German bass channel.

In terms of content, BassTheWorld takes a slightly different approach than the channels mentioned above. For one thing, it regularly features international bass greats such as Victor Wooten, Adam Ben Ezra, Ida Nielsen (Prince), René Flächsenhaar, and Johann Bonitz (Blond). In addition, BassTheWorld often posts gear videos showcasing basses, amps, and effects.

So a signature bass is just the thing for them! Let’s take a look at what the Harley Benton MV-4JB Plus BassTheWorld Signature has to offer.

What makes the MV-4JB Plus BassTheWorld Signature so special?

Visually alone, the MV-4JB Plus is a treat. The finish, called “Burgundy Mist,” along with the matching headstock, falls somewhere between Disco and Kiss. Compared to the standard model*, HB has really gone the extra mile with virtually every aspect of this JB version. The body is crafted from American alder. The back is ergonomically contoured so you can comfortably carry the bass during long sessions or gigs.

For the neck (modern Soft-D profile), HB went for Canadian caramelized hard-rock-flame maple with a Roseacer Skunk Stripe, just like on the standard model. However, the fingerboard is made of rosewood, which is of much higher quality than laurel. In terms of dimensions, the model offers a 12-inch fingerboard radius and a 34-inch scale length.

20 premium silver-nickel medium frets, pearloid block inlays, and glow-in-the-dark side dots all add to the premium feel of the signature model.

What Pickups Does the MV-4JB Plus Come With?

The MV-4JB Plus also comes with improved hardware (chrome) and pickups compared to the standard model. The bridge (203B-4) and tuners (GB11W-4 20:1) are by Gotoh, which is a rarity in the world of Harley Benton. And the two pickups take it to a truly boutique level.

Kloppmann Pickups · Source: Harley Benton

Together with BassTheWorld, Harley Benton has selected two handcrafted single-coil Alnico-5 pickups from Kloppmann. That’s right, the very same Kloppmann that my colleague Andreas visited in 2024. The Kloppmann, who simply can’t help but build absolutely high-end pickups. The MV-4JB Plus features a Kloppmann JB-61b at the bridge and a Kloppmann JB-61n at the neck position.

And finally, you get three CTS potentiometers: two for the pickup levels and one for global tone control.

How Much Does the Harley Benton MV-4JB Plus BassTheWorld Signature Bass Cost?

Price-wise, we’re in a range that, by HB standards, could almost be described as uncharted territory. The bass all looks and seems super-premium, and the Kloppmann pickups are quite a bold choice.

You can order the Harley Benton MV-4JB Plus for $777 / £699 / €799 at Thomann*. There’s also a bundle* that includes a Harley Benton Safebag gig bag for a total of $799 / £719 /€819.
