HK Audio Polar MK2: Introducing The Polar 8

HK Audio Polar MK2: Introducing The Polar 8

The HK Audio Polar MK2 family of column speaker systems has expanded with its latest and most compact and lightweight model, the Polar 8 MK2.

The Polar MK2 column speaker systems provide a complete portable solution for sound reinforcement at small-scale events. Now available, 8-, 10-, and 12-inch subwoofer configurations, the columns are equipped with six neodymium drivers, while the Polar 10 and 12 MK2 models add a precision tweeter with a constant directivity horn design.

HK Audio Polar MK2: Meet The Compact Polar 8

The idea behind the Polar 8 is to recreate the same level of power delivery and audio performance in an even more portable format. At just 19.3 kg, the Polar 8 is almost 6 kg lighter than the larger Polar 10, and it does this by using an 8-inch bass reflex subwoofer with a low-resonance ABS housing, rather than the wood enclosures used by the Polar 10 and 12.

The column array configuration is also different, using six 2.5-inch neodymium drivers, which are slightly smaller, to cover the midrange (from 200 Hz) and highs with a dispersion angle of 120 x 45 degrees. This system requires less amplification power (1,200W), but still manages to produce a maximum SPL of around 120 dB with a frequency response of 50 Hz – 20 kHz.

Overall, the Polar 8 is an extremely practical solution for mobile DJs and small-scale event productions where quick, easy setups make the job more fun. Because all the features, including the mixer I/O, DSP, and Bluetooth connectivity, are the same as the larger models, the Polar 8 provides plenty of value with a nearly $300 lower price tag. HK Audio Polar MK2: The Versatile Column Speaker System Gets an Upgrade

[10 Jun 2025] The HK Audio Polar MK2 column PA speaker system now has two new configuration options, including the Polar 10 MK2 and Polar 12 MK2.

In the new MK2 version, the columns have been upgraded with high-rigidity aluminium housings, which considerably improve the dispersion, which you’ll notice in the midrange. The speaker grille of both the column and subwoofer also features a hexagon design, which gives the Polar MK2 a rugged new look.

In addition, the Bluetooth connectivity has been updated, which now features TWS (True Wireless Stereo) technology. This allows you to wirelessly pair two Polar MK2 columns in a stereo configuration, with a quick and easy setup process.

Furthermore, on the rear panel of the subwoofer, the built-in mixer has been expanded with two XLR combo mic/line input channels (now with Phantom Power), a TRS input channel, and a stereo channel for Bluetooth and RCA connections, which can be used simultaneously.

What’s more, there’s a handy USB-C charging socket for tablets and mobile devices. On either side of the subwoofer housings, there are conveniently built-in carry handles for easy transportation, and the column’s connection to the subwoofer has also been improved for increased stability.
