Sounds and Presets: GEOSynths Matrix Vol 2 for the Oberheim TEO-5
The Matrix Vol 2 preset library gives you a new collection of 128 patches for your Oberheim TEO-5 from GEOSynths. In the first Matrix collection, the scope of sounds reached back to the early 1980s, with patches that covered everything from the famous Minneapolis sound created by Jimmy Jam and Prince to some more modern electro-pop sounds.

Vol 2 takes things in a new direction with some slightly more involved sound design for modern productions ranging from pop and EDM to soundtracks with leads, basses, strings, and pads, as well as animated polyphonic sounds and arpeggiators. For easy patch loading, GEOSynths owner Jamie Morden has included support for Banks 1 through G on the TEO-5.
What’s more, if you already own the first Matrix collection, GEOSynths provides a comprehensive library structure, preserving the factory presets while installing the Matrix Vol 2 patches into the user banks. This GEOSynths Matrix Vol 2 is now available from the official website for $39, and you can get both collections as a bundle for $69 with a small saving.

Rhythm King From Mars
If, like me, you’re a fan of rare and obscure vintage drum machines, the Samples From Mars team has a real treat for us in the form of a sample pack created from the Maestro Rhythm King MRK-2 and MRK-4 from the early to mid 1970s. As a true music buff will tell you, the Rhythm King MRK-2 was famously used by Sly Stone on the legendary album There’s a Riot Goin’ On.

The Rhythm King drum machine was also used by Kraftwerk and, more recently, on Drake’s Hotline Bling. As you can imagine, tracking down these two drum machines wasn’t easy and took the Samples From Mars team a few years before they could complete the project. Each and every sound in both drum machines has been thoroughly sampled with multiple round robins, as well as all the original factory rhythm patterns.
There is also a selection of more modern and experimental sounds with saturation and distortion for added color. In total, the Rhythm King From Mars sample pack contains 376 one-shots and 200 loops, including Ableton Live Racks, and kits and one-shot instruments for Kontakt, Logic, Reason, FL Studio, Maschine, Battery, and SFZ format, as well as MPC samplers. Rob Papen Go2-X Update
Rob Papen’s Go2-X was recently updated, bringing new features and a collection of over 110 new presets to this accessible and versatile virtual analog synth plugin. While Go2-X follows a traditional subtractive structure with analog modeling, its morphing oscillator lets you select or create waveforms and morph between them.

The plugin now features new enhancements to the XY screen, with command features and extended real-time XY path presets, previews, and menu functions. Also, there is a selection of Albino 3 Legend Cream Filters, as well as Amp, Phase, and Frequency Modulation. Also, the preset bank manager now allows you to select and store favourites from the library.
Meanwhile, among the new presets are 30 new synth sounds, 20 arpeggiator and sequence sounds, five pads, 33 basses, 10 wobbles, and 20 presets that fall into the ‘EDM & House’ category. Overall, this update adds even more value for Go2-X users, making this an even more exciting prospect for beginners looking to delve deeper into synthesis without spending a ton.
