Now under the LANDR umbrella, Reason 14 is the latest evolution of the unique DAW system that moves it into a more competitive direction than ever.

Reason 14

The first thing you’ll notice about the sequencer is the new Track Panel that becomes your main base of operations, allowing you to adjust the signal chain, sends, and level of each track without having to switch views. As you select each track, you can open the floating Rack view to tweak the connected instrument or effect device, giving you immediate “hands-on” control.

In addition, the sequencer now has Track Folders to group channels, as well as smarter clips with more advanced functions such as looping. Meanwhile, the piano roll is more streamlined and intuitive than ever, with velocity handles for more precise per-note editing. To make importing audio more seamless, there is now auto tempo detection and the ability to chase MIDI notes as you edit and play back parts.

The legendary RV7000 reverb that has been a part of the identity and sound since the beginning now has a successor, the RV-9 Reverb Station. Choose from nine different reverb algorithms, including spectral and granular modes. This lets you create realistic ambient spaces, model classic digital reverb units from the 1980s, or do textured spatial sound design. Also, the Factory Sound Bank has been updated with over 900 new drum samples and new patches, as well as improvements to the Rack Extension SDK.

There is also a Dark Mode theme that is active by default across the whole DAW, making it easier than ever to navigate Reason’s new interface. Overall, this new direction makes for a seamless transition between working on this platform and most other major DAWs, even the skeumorphic design philosophy of the devices has been gradually dialled back in favour of more practical plugin UX design.

With Reason 14, we set out to rethink the music-making workflow. By centering the experience around the sequencer and bringing key elements of each track and Rack into view, it’s easier to stay focused on what matters most: making music
