Erica Synths Razornator warps and mangles your signals with five chromatically tuned delay lines – all in a handy desktop effect that just screams live performance.
Erica Synths Razornator
Erica Synths first hinted at the new Razornator at the WAMM event in Brussels a few weeks ago. Now, the new desktop resonator effect has been officially announced and you can already order it.
Once again developed by Erica Synths in collaboration with 112 dB, Razornator is designed for creative sound design and live performance. This time, it’s all about resonators: five chromatically tuned delay lines that can mimic the acoustic properties of physical objects. In a sense, Razornator shares some similarities with resonator-based physical modeling synths, with your live input signal serving as the exciter.

According to Erica Synths, you can tune the delay lines in chords or intervals. For example, this lets you turn a simple drum loop or another percussive signal into a pulsating web of chords. There’s also an envelope follower for dynamic shaping.

The analog gain stage can also be used as an overdrive. Before the signal reaches the resonators, it passes through a resonant low-pass filter. After the resonators, you can further shape the effect signal using a compressor and an EQ.

Like the other desktop effects by Erica Synths and 112 dB, Razornator offers plenty of hands-on control. All parameters are also MIDI-controllable. You can even morph continuously between presets, which should deliver some pretty interesting results.
