Erica Synths Xenodrive

After Zen Delay, Nightverb, and Echolocator, Erica Synths has announced yet another desktop effects unit. Developed in collaboration with 112db, Xenodrive delivers hard-hitting stereo distortion and waveshaping in a performance-ready format with lots of knobs for tweaking.

Offering a true-stereo signal path, it’s best friends with your synths, drum machines, and anything else you’d use for an electronic live performance. However, you can also hook it up to your guitar. There’s an analog pre-gain stage that brings the signal up to line level and can also be driven into analog saturation. A compressor for pre-conditioning the input signal before it hits the distortion is also included.

Next up are two digital distortion processors designed to turn your signal into a pile of rubble. The Drive stage is based on an emulation of a Germanium diode and offers Drive and Tone knobs. If the signal is lucky enough to make it past this point, it then hits a waveshaper and wavefolder with lots of opportunities for tweaking. A handy scope display even lets you watch in real time as your waveforms are obliterated. Do you dare to press the Scream button?

Like the other desktop effects from Erica Synths, Xenodrive is built for live performance, offering no less than 12 good-sized knobs and a configurable footswitch input. All parameters are MIDI-controllable, and you can store and recall your settings.
