Gretsch has dug deep into its archives and brought back a long-lost series with the Gretsch Synchromatic. The Synchromatic archtops were one of the company’s flagship products in the 1950s. With the Nashville and Falvon models, vintage vibes are now back in four stylish colors!
Gretsch Synchromatic Nashville
Let’s start with the more compact Gretsch Synchromatic Nashville model. This hollow-body comes at a compact 24.6-inch scale. Body, set neck (soft C profile), and a typical arched top are all made of maple, in addition to an ebony fretboard. The two huge F-holes in the 2.5-inch-deep body should ensure particularly pronounced sound projection.

Both Nashville models feature gold hardware, including tuners, pickups, inlays, and the bridge, with pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. In addition, these hollow bodies come with a Bigsby B60 V cutout vibrato tailpiece along with an Adjustomatic bridge. To match the vibe, Gretsch has fitted the Synchromatic models with Grover Super Rotomatic tuners.

All four guitars include two Hi-Fidelity Filter’Tron humbuckers with a three-way switch for combining and switching. In addition, the Gretsch Synchromatic offers loads of possibilities for fine-tuning your sound. There is a master volume with optional treble bleed, master tone, plus separate volume controls for each pickup. You can get the Nashville models in the stylish colors Cadillac Green* or 50s Orange Stain* for $1,190 / £1,075 / €1,219 each at Thomann. A deluxe hard case is included.

Synchromatic Falcon in White or Black
The white gold combination on the Gretsch Syncromatic Falcon is my favorite finish in this series. But the black model with gold hardware is also quite eye-catching. Essentially, everything here – the woods, hardware, and electronics – is identical to the Nashville models.
In addition to the different colors, the main difference here is the longer scale length: 25.5″ instead of 24.6″. All four Synchromatic guitars feature 22 medium jumbo frets and a 12-inch fretboard radius and bone nut.

Compared to the Gretsch Synchromatic models from the Fifties, the new Semi-Arc bracing is a modified version of the traditional Gretsch Trestle bracing design. This new bracing features two “feet” under the bridge, while the feet previously installed feet near the neck block have been removed. This gets you the best of both worlds: the rich sound of parallel bracing models and the sustain of the old trestle bracing.
